French Placement Test

If you have not previously taken any French courses at SMU, you must take the placement test. This test is available in Brightspace as a self-enroll course. Here is how you can access it:

1. From the Brightspace Homepage, click on Discover on the NavBar.
2. Find the course listed under All. Click on the course.
3. The select Enroll in Course. 
4. After a few moments, the students can go back to the Brightspace Homepage and the course should be listed under their My Courses section. 

After completing the test and receiving a score, you will see the instructions about the courses you can select depending on your score. The names of the professors teaching the relevant courses can be found on Self-Service Banner. If a given course is listed as TBA, you can contact:
