Managing and Resolving Conflict in the Workplace

The workplace is a unique context for conflict. How conflict is managed and resolved must take into account the distinctive factors of the workplace in order to be effective. People are paid to be at work unlike at other settings where conflict arises. This seminar is designed to equip registrants with practical tools and approaches adapted for use with the nuances of the workplace in mind.

Two sub-contexts for workplace conflict exist: one where the registrant is embroiled in a conflict; the other where the registrant is engaging others about their conflict. Tools and tips for each sub-context based on a collaborative conversation model will be provided.

As many practice opportunities as possible will be provided to get comfortable with the tools. Situations and scenarios for practice will be as realistic as possible to increase comfort when registrants seek to use them in their own workplaces after the seminar. This seminar is intended to be highly interactive and participatory to deepen learning.

The virtual workplace provides additional challenges beyond even electronic communication. This seminar examines how the virtual workplace has impacted relationships and the implications for addressing conflict.

This seminar will build upon the knowledge, skills and tools from the Foundations in Conflict Resolution seminar. The progression and introduction of additional skills and tools along with time to practice will leave you feeling more confident to respond effectively when conflict does arise in your workplace.

Managing and Resolving Conflict in the Workplace is an elective seminar for the Certificate in Managing Conflict
